What are we learning?
Surf Afterschool is all about cultivating a positive, joyful experience with the ocean!

This program is a holistic, well-rounded approach to ocean knowledge and safety, in-water experience and development of overall health and fitness. We provide the knowledge, tools and supportive container for students to: develop their awareness, confidence and abilities in the ocean; connect with, listen to and take care of their bodies; find joy through movement, nature and exercise; spark meaningful friendships and connections in a loving community.
We teach from our hearts... we teach what we live! Surf Afterschool is a culmination of all of our years of surf and ocean experience and everything we wish we knew from the beginning.

A few of the things we will cover: Love and respect for the ocean. Essential ocean safety knowledge and skills. Practical knowledge about the ocean (IE: tides, wind, waves, swell, rip and longshore currents, beach/reef/point breaks etc). Body awareness, positive body image and mind-body connection through FUNctional high-impact games & exercises, mindful movement. In-water practice and development of fundamental surf skills (surf etiquette, paddling, popping up, stance, how to wipeout safely). All about boards and how to manage them. Ocean conservation education and how to give back to ocean, take care of our environment and feel empowered through small day-to-day actions that make a huge difference.
