Safety Updates

SAFETY FIRST! You and your family’s health is of utmost priority--especially given the times we are in--here at Ocean School. We are taking additional precautions and safety measures to make sure that our program is in compliance with state and county regulations regarding COVID-19. The following measures are set in place that we may navigate the Covid times with mindfulness and understanding to proceed forward with calm and caution for our students, teachers, families and community.

  • We are outside all day and choose locations where not many people are around

  • We choose to keep “Hands to yourself”

  • We respect our own and each other’s personal space and create our own bubbles during circle time and group activities (social distancing)

  • Kids bring and only eat their own food with their own utensils

  • Kids bring and use their own sunscreen and towels

  • We sanitize group materials down after every use

  • We wash our hands frequently; before and after meals, bathroom breaks, and activity rotations

  • We remind children to cough and sneeze into their arms

  • Any teachers and students who are feeling sick or with symptoms must stay home

It is well known that being outside in nature boosts the immune system and our overall well being. Being in a natural environment--particularly being near and in the water--reduces stress levels and induces positive and healthy states of mind. While children appear to have significantly lower risk for COVID-19, we know that they are quite susceptible to the stress and fear in adults and the current state of the world all around them. It is our hope that Ocean School Summer Sessions can provide a safe space that is both physically and emotionally nourishing for the children of our community.
